Love Wildlife Shop
Maker: Vanessa Mole
Craft: Pyrography
What inspired this piece: This wooden garden sign was inspired from a love of hedgehogs whilst fitting in nicely with our handcrafted wildlife products. Hedgehogs start to emerge from hibernation in the spring, and the sign was made to encourage people to create little areas of their garden for hedgehogs which are in decline.

Chris Doy
Maker: Chris Doy
Craft: Woodcarving
What inspired this piece: I created this piece after my wife asked me to carve her a green man, that represents the spirit of nature which is at its new beginnings in spring. I wanted it to be a focal point, so instead of the small one she was expecting I carved this from an Elm turning blank of about 16inch diameter and 3inch depth (40cm x 7.5cm). It is about the same size as a dart board. As we live in the area of Sherwood Forest I wanted it to feature oak leaves. The thickness of the wood allowed for a good variation of levels to create depth between the features and deep shadows to accentuate them.
