If you have been making lidded boxes for a while the next step is to started producing threaded lids. This is not a project for the novice or the faint hearted.

Producing threads needs a lot of practice and a steady hand but once mastered this technique adds significant value to your project. These Robert Sorby thread cutters were designed in conjunction with master turner Robert Sorby and have been specially produced for cutting in wood.

Thread cutters are available in matching pairs for internal and external threads.

The Relief Tool is a handy accessory to cut the relief in the bottom of female threads whilst the Tool Support enables extra access.

The gauge is extremely useful for any box maker as it enables the accurate sizing of the lid whether threaded or a push fit.

One of the anvils gives a 1:1 measurement for a push fit whilst the other three accurately give the size required for the specific depth of thread - whether 3.5tpi, 10tpi, 16tpi or 20tpi.
