Xylia
Product Description
The heartwood is dark red with darker purple brown streaks and lighter curly parenchyma bands.
It is extremely durable and being a busy timber it makes for interesting turning options.
Tools need to be sharp and it sands to a fine finish, takes varnish and glues well.
Used for turning and carving.

"I am new to turning and pushing myself beyond pen turning. Classed as possibly difficult to work due to it's hardness but, with sharp tools and light skims, even I produced a half decent potpourri bowl. It is a lovely wood and the effort was certainly worth it."
