Pentacryl Preservative
Product Description
Pentacryl is a wood stabiliser used by woodcarvers, woodturners, builders, furniture makers and anyone working with green, fresh cut wood to prevent it from cracking, checking and splitting during the drying process.
Pentacryl is a non-toxic compound of modified polymers designed to prevent the cracking and splitting of green wood during the drying process. It displaces the water and leaves a thin coating on the wood cell walls, which prevents the cells from collapsing and shrinking as the wood dries. It does not contain silicone, wax or mineral oil. There are no harmful fumes or foul odors. Wood treated with Pentacryl can be sanded, stained, glued and/or sealed. It contains a UV protectant to help prevent sun fading and graying. If Pentacryl will be used on wood intended for outdoor use, a sealer must be applied once the wood has dried, to prevent the Pentacryl from leaching out over time.
Directions: Use Pentacryl at room temperature and do not dilute. Pentacryl works best on green or freshly cut wood with a high moisture content. If the surface of the wood has dried out, it can be wet down lightly with water and wrapped in a wet towel for a few hours prior to treating with Pentacryl. Safety glasses should be worn to prevent the Pentacryl from splashing in and irritating your eyes. Read the directions completely. Clean up with soap and water
