Hardwood ScraperHardwood Scraper
The Hardwood Scraper is different in that it has a negative rake on the bevel. It is designed to reduce or eliminate tear-out of the fibres of wood leaving a highly polished surface on all types of wood. This feature is particularly highly sought after by those working in the typically hard woods like African Blackwood. Musical instrument makers find the Hardwood Scraper a particularly useful addition to their collection of lathe tools. It is equally effective on spindle and faceplate work. The micro version is ideal for working on smaller projects like pens or dolls house miniatures. Full instructions included. Featured on the "Robert Sorby Specialist tools - Part 2" CD.

Introduction and Use (25mb)

Round ScrapersRound Scrapers
A round scraper is a finishing tool. When used in trailing fashion it will give a very fine finish on curved surfaces - like the inside of bowls, or platters.
Available with or without handle.
Also available in High Performance with titanium nitride coating for extra long life.

Square ScrapersSquare Scrapers
For a finish on convex or flat forms, a square scraper is ideal. That is why it is an invaluable asset to any box maker. The square end may also be adapted to produce individual shapes.
Available with or without handle.
Also available in High Performance with titanium nitride coating for extra long life.
Heavy Duty ScrapersHeavy Duty Scrapers
This selection of heavy duty scrapers is specifically intended for those turning large pieces. Their extra thick 1.1/2" x 3/8" means that they are much more stable in use than conventional scrapers. That in turn reduces vibration leading to an even cleaner finish. Their length (22") allows them to be used with a large overhang over the tool rest.
Available with or without handle.
Box ScraperBox Scraper
The unique shape of the Box Scraper allows the turner to finish both the parallel insides of a box as well as creating a smooth flow from the walls to the bottom. A must for any box maker.

Available with or without handle.
Curved ScraperCurved Scraper
This handy scraper is excellent for creating smoothing or blending curved surfaces in bowls. It can be used either aggressively or delicately depending on the application.

Available with or without handle.
Internal and External Shear ScrapersInternal and External Shear Scrapers
The square section of the tool shank ensures that the cutter tip is always presented at 45 degrees. This is known as shear scraping and ensures that the fibres of the wood are peeled away to leave a very fine finish - sanding may not be necessary.
There are two shapes of tip - one for internal work, one for external. The tips are fully interchangeable on the tool shank. Sharpen with a diamond hone.
