New exclusively from Turners Retreat is the revolutionary Evolution9 Advanced Mandrel System, a unique design that offers the woodturner much more flexibility, versatility and accuracy when turning pens, pencils and other mandrel driven projects on the lathe. The Evolution 9 Advanced Mandrel System is entirely British in design and manufacture.

One of the most tiresome aspects of turning pens and pencils is the difference in lengths, sometime single, sometimes double, leading to the need for messy packing pieces. The Evolution9 system overcomes this by having an adjustable length which is controlled by a knurled nut. Bushing sets are available to fit all pen and pencil kits supplied by Turners Retreat.

The base Evolution9 mandrel system consists of a drive head, shaft and knurled nut. The drive head is available in 1 or 2 morse taper.

The Evolution9 is also complemented by a barrel trimmer head. When fitted into the keyless chuck the turner has total control in squaring up the ends of pen blanks. Renaissance Wax

The finest wax on finish on the market today. A blend of refined waxes that creates a formula used by the British Museum due to its high resistance to heat and finger prints. It is a favourite among pen turners for finishing both wood and plastic pens. It is of such a refined nature that it does not darken or stain, even on white paper. Repeated use of the wax deepens the lustre, reflecting more light and making surfaces more lively. A little bit goes a long way; the 2.25 oz can is enough to finish 500 pens or more. For finishing pens, apply wax to entire pen, metal parts and all, wait 15-30 seconds then gently buff using a soft cloth.
